A contemporary decorative statuette depicting Gautama Buddha in the Dhyana mudra. The figure is represented seated in the lotus position (padmasana) with both hands resting in the lap, palms facing upwards. The figure features a tiered ushnisha above a head of tight curls, elongated earlobes, and a visible urna mark on the forehead. The statuette is constructed from cast resin with a dark bronze-tone finish to the exposed skin and a contrasting gilt-effect finish to the robes. The monastic robes are heavily textured with floral and scrollwork motifs and are further embellished with a series of inset red and clear cabochon-style plastic faux-jewels along the hem and shoulder. The base is flat and finished in the same dark tone as the body. There are no maker’s marks, signatures, or country-of-origin labels visible on the figure or the underside of the base.
