A garden bench of traditional construction, featuring two decorative cast iron ends and a slatted seat and backrest. The cast iron ends are finished in a light green paint and are cast with an ornate, scrolling foliate pattern, often referred to as a fern design. The bench seat is composed of seven horizontal wooden slats, with a further four slats forming the backrest, all secured to the metal frame with round-head bolts. The seat is contoured for comfort and the backrest is set at a slight recline. The wooden slats appear to be a light-toned softwood. No maker’s marks, foundry stamps, or signatures are visible on the cast iron or wooden components.
