The sculpture is fashioned from steatite with natural colour variations, featuring a light-toned figure atop a darker, integral rocky base. The subject is an elderly male figure portrayed in traditional flowing robes and a soft hat. He holds a gnarled wooden-style staff in his left hand and a large fish in his right arm. The base is intricately carved with openwork and rocky textures. The piece displays characteristic export style typical of the late 19th to early 20th century. There are no visible maker marks, signatures, or inscriptions.
