A traditional cast iron fireplace assembly comprising a rectangular fire grate and a pair of matching fire dogs. The fire dogs are designed in a revivalist style, each featuring a decorative upright shaft with a stylised foliate finial above a panel decorated with scrolling floral relief. They are supported by shaped, splayed feet with similar decorative motifs. The grate is of rectangular form, consisting of five horizontal bars with upright spikes positioned along the front and side perimeters. No maker’s marks are visible on the surfaces. A small adhesive label bearing the number 583 is attached to the rear bar of the grate.
