A lot comprising two UK first day covers. The first is a GPO regional cover for Wales and Monmouthshire, postmarked with a Cardiff circular date stamp dated 1 March 1967. It is franked with a 9d olive-sepia (SG W12) and a 1/6 blue (SG W14) Machin definitive stamp. The cover features a blue and yellow daffodil cachet and a typed address for a recipient in Bromley, Kent. The second is a Royal Mail commemorative cover titled The Definitive Portrait, issued in 1997 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Machin stamp design. It features a multiple of green Machin definitive stamps cancelled with a circular pictorial handstamp from Ford, Gloucester. The envelope design incorporates a monochrome photograph of Arnold Machin and contact information for the Croydon Stamp Centre. Both items are presented within a single transparent plastic protective sleeve.
