This art pottery vase is decorated in the Jacobean pattern, attributed to Royal Stanley Ware. The earthenware vessel features an ovoid body of baluster form, tapering to a slightly flared rim. The decoration is executed using the tube-lining technique, also known as slip-trailing, which creates raised outlines around the hand-painted motifs. The pattern consists of pendant clusters of purple grapes set amongst green vine leaves and yellow scrollwork. The design is presented against a deep navy blue ground with variegated blue and green tones. This style of decoration is typical of the Art Nouveau influence on early 20th-century English ceramics.
