A Victorian style fireplace mantel and surround constructed from pine wood with a natural, stripped finish. The structure comprises a flat mantel shelf over a frieze featuring a central carved relief depicting a classical urn. The vertical jambs are detailed with fluted pilasters. Inset into the jambs are two vertical ceramic tile panels, each decorated with a polychrome floral bouquet of red blossoms in a blue vase against a cream ground, accented with yellow and green foliage. The interior features a black cast-iron frame surrounding the opening. The base is supported by two wooden plinth blocks. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the exterior surfaces or the interior frame.
