A Victorian revival mahogany gossip chair or telephone bench. The frame is constructed with a high, scrolled backrest featuring an asymmetrical design that slopes down toward an integrated side table. The cresting rail is topped with a hand-carved foliate finial, and the lower apron features a central carved shell-like motif. The piece is supported by four cabriole legs ending in pad feet. The integrated side table has a polished rectangular top decorated with a light wood floral inlay at the centre. Below the tabletop is a single drawer with a carved wooden shell-style pull handle. The bench is upholstered in a cream-coloured damask fabric with a woven floral and foliate pattern, finished with a matching cord trim. A loose, square cushion in a coordinating damask fabric is included. No maker marks or labels are visible on the exterior of the piece.
