A tall, stylized standing figure of a Maasai warrior, carved from a dense hardwood with a polished reddish-brown finish. The figure features the elongated proportions typical of East African decorative carvings. The warrior is depicted holding a long, slender wooden spear in the right hand and a traditional rungu or knobkerrie in the left. The carving is embellished with applied beadwork ornaments, including a large multi-strand collar in white and black, drop earrings, and bracelets on both wrists. The wood displays a rich grain and a deep, lustrous patina. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the object. This piece is characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century East African decorative art produced for the export market.
