This cast metal sculpture, fashioned from a zinc alloy commonly known as spelter, depicts a rearing horse being restrained by a groom. The composition is a reproduction of the Marly Horses originally designed by Guillaume Coustou for the Chateau de Marly. The horse is portrayed in a dynamic, energetic pose with a voluminous mane and a flowing tail. A semi-nude groom stands beside the horse, exerting tension on wire reins to control the animal. The figures are set upon an integral, textured rocky base. The sculpture is finished with a dark, blackened patina intended to simulate the appearance of aged bronze.
