An antique rectangular travel trunk, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, constructed from brown reinforced fibre or board with horizontal wooden battens and metal-capped corners. The exterior surface is heavily weathered and displays an aged patina with white speckling and scuffing throughout. The lid retains a partial paper transit label with legible text including VICTORIA and To PARIS (ST LAZARE) alongside the number 1234, indicating historical cross-channel rail travel. A fragment of a red and blue shipping label is also present on the lid, with a further illegible label fragment near the base. The lot includes several pieces of artwork, most notably a painting on panel depicting a stylised African figure in patterned dress and headdress.
