This collection comprises four assorted gilt-finished picture frames, dating from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The group includes a large, deep-profile frame featuring a broad, stepped moulding with a patterned inner border. Also included is an ornate Victorian-style swept frame in the Rococo taste, decorated with scrolling foliate and shell-moulded motifs to the corners and centres. A mid-sized gilt composition frame features a wide moulding with a repeating foliate scroll pattern along the outer edge. The smallest frame has a classic stepped profile accented by a fine beaded inner moulding. All frames are constructed from wood with composition decorative elements and a gilt finish. They are presented empty without glass, mirror plates, or backboards.
