This single chair is constructed from light-coloured wood, featuring a shaped crest rail over a central decorative fret-cut splat flanked by six turned spindles. The curved armrests are supported by two out-turned spindles on each side. The solid wooden seat is contoured and is supported by four ring-turned legs, which are united by a reinforced H-stretcher. The construction is in the style of a traditional Captain’s or Smoker’s Bow chair. No maker’s marks or manufacturer’s labels are visible.
