An assortment of replica chess pieces modelled after the 12th-century Isle of Lewis chessmen. The collection comprises figures in two distinct finishes: a natural off-white and a deep reddish-brown. These pieces are manufactured from a moulded resin or crushed stone composite material, designed to simulate the appearance of carved walrus ivory and stained bone. The group includes various character types including seated kings and queens on high-backed ornate thrones, mitred bishops holding croziers, knights mounted on small horses, warders (rooks) equipped with shields and swords, and pawns decorated with intricate Celtic-style knotwork. The designs follow the Romanesque aesthetic of the original medieval artefacts, featuring characteristic bulging eyes and detailed vestments. No manufacturer marks or labels are visible on the pieces.
