A ceramic tankard featuring high-relief moulded decoration and a two-tone salt-glaze style finish. The upper portion and rim are finished in a dark charcoal-brown glaze which transitions into a light tan or cream-coloured body. The handle is integrated with a flat thumb rest at the top. The central decorative panel is composed of various banners and a central figure. The text on the banners includes TRADITIONAL at the top, REAL and CELEBRATED positioned above the figure, BEER and ALE on the left and right sides respectively, and MALT, SPRING, and HOPS on the lower ribbons. The central motif depicts a man with a moustache wearing a flat cap, shown from the chest up while holding a frothing mug of beer. The piece is designed in a style consistent with 20th-century British studio or giftware pottery, notably resembling works produced by Tremar Pottery. No maker’s marks are visible on the exterior surfaces.
