Buyer's Premium:

A pair of late Victorian or Edwardian carved oak fireside armchairs. Each chair features a tall, slightly reclined padded back surmounted by a shaped crest rail with relief-carved scroll and foliate motifs. The padded armrests are supported by decoratively shaped wooden uprights. The frames are raised on turned front legs and splayed rear legs, with all four legs terminating in brass-toned metal casters. The chairs are upholstered in a cream-ground fabric with a muted floral tapestry-style pattern in shades of brown, green, and red, finished with a decorative white gimp trim. The construction consists of solid oak with joined and turned components. These chairs are characteristic of British parlour furniture from the late 19th to early 20th century. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the pieces.
