An antique English copper coal scuttle of traditional helmet form, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The piece is constructed from sheet copper with a rolled rim and a flared, stepped circular pedestal base. It features a heavy overhead copper swing handle and a fixed smaller T-handle at the rear to assist with pouring. Both handles are secured to the body with shaped, riveted brackets. The item is in an uncleaned state and retains a heavy natural patina. No maker marks or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces.
