A pair of decorative wall hangings dating to the mid-20th century, circa 1960s-1970s. Each piece features a printed illustration of a bird set within a naturalistic scene. One hanging depicts a bird resembling a European Goldfinch perched upon a thistle flower, while the other shows a bird resembling a European Robin on a branch surrounded by foliage. The illustrations are applied to silver-toned metallic plates which provide a reflective background. These plates are set against textured, brown woven hessian mounts. The hangings are housed in slim, dark-stained wood frames with a simple rectangular profile and mitred corners, typical of the period. No signatures, maker’s marks, or labels are visible on the items.
