An English mahogany chest of drawers in the Scotch style, dating from the William IV period, circa 1835-1845. The carcase is constructed with a two-over-three configuration of graduated drawers. The front is flanked by two substantial cylindrical pilasters with turned capitals and bases. The drawer fronts are finished in figured mahogany veneers and each is fitted with a pair of turned mahogany knobs that appear original to the piece. Centrally positioned brass-lined keyholes are present on each drawer front; no keys are provided. The unit rests on a solid plinth base. Primary wood is mahogany; secondary woods for the internal drawer construction and joinery are not visible.
